KNIFE GATE VALVES

EXPERT make Knife Gate Valves are ideal to cut through thick flow media like slurry, pulp and powders over a wide range of sizes. Knife Gate Valves are available in rising or non-rising stem with multiple actuation options like hand wheel, chain wheel, bevel gear box, pneumatic cylinder and electrical motorized actuator. These valves can be offered with an integral metal seat for abrasive flow media or with a resilient seat for flow media that requires a tight shut off. These valves are not recommended for throttling and are hence suitable for on/off applications only.

These valves can be supplied with additional accessories like air filter regulator, lubricator unit, solenoid valve, limit switches, proximity sensors, flow control valve and electro pneumatic positioners of reputed makes. Deflector Cone and Counter Flanges may be supplied on request.

Constructional Details

BODY AND BONNET

The Body of unidirectional knife gate valves comes as a single piece casting designed to ensure minimum pressure drop across the valve flow area. A wafer type design ensures compactness of the valve and thus reduces the space requirements. The Body is generally designed to withstand a shell pressure of 10 bar. For higher sizes, adequate ribbing is provided in the chest area to control deflection on pressurization. The Body comes with an integral stuffing box thereby reducing the number of additional components.

GATE

The Gate is designed to cut through demanding flow media including slurry, pulp and paper. Unidirectional valves have a gate with a beveled edge thereby facilitating the valve to handle thick flow media. Gate can be provided with a stellited edge or Hard Chrome Plating or Nitriding on request.

GLAND PACKING

Gland Packing is included to suit the nature of flow media. Different types of packing can be used depending on the temperature, abrasiveness, composition and reactivity of the flow media. Our standard offering includes PTFE Gland Packing to support most of the applications.

GLAND

Gland is designed to establish and maintain a high pressure enclosure when the valve is in closed position to avoid any leakage through the packing.Evenly located fasteners distribute an equal load to hold the packing in place

STEM

Stem is provided with double start ACME threads for efficient and quick actuation. Stem threads are suitable for electrical actuation as well wherein the desired open or close time can be achieved by selection of the correct motor rpm.

YOKE

Yoke is fabricated in Mild Steel for all kinds of actuations. Pneumatic actuators can be mounted according to the front flange mounting details of the cylinder while the electrical and bevel gear actuators can be mounted using the respective mounting flange details as per ISO 5210.

SEAT

Seat may be integral to the body or resilient depending upon the requirement of the application. Resilient seats except PTFE come with a reinforcement ring for stiffness while PTFE seat ring is designed for a tight seating.

The Body of bidirectional knife gate valves comes as a screwed assembly of two pieces with a resilient seat sandwiched between them. This ensures tight shut off at high pressure. The Body comes with an integral stuffing box thereby reducing the number of additional components.

The Gate is designed to cut through demanding flow media including slurry, pulp and paper. Gate can be provided with a stellited edge or Hard Chrome Plating or Nitriding on request.
